After completing her quilt from the Seminole With A Twist class, Ellen decided she didn't like the border (see Version 1). From Ellen: A little story (the short version) about my finished quilt, which I named, "John Tyler-Whig's Defeat With a Seminole Twist". (John Tyler being a distant uncle of mine and was a member of the Whig party).....anyway.....I finished the quilt in 2011 and entered it in the Denver National Quilt Festival-2011. When I saw my quilt hanging (where I could see how it looked with some distance between it and myself), I decided that I did not like the borders. I felt that fabric was too overpowering for the softness of the block and thirty's fabrics that I had used. So....(get ready.....)...I took it home, got my rotary cutter and cut the borders off. (That was pretty scary)!!! I then added the piping and white borders, which I now love!! I entered the "re-finish" of my quilt into the Firehouse Quilts 6th Annual Quilt Show in Littleton, CO and received a 3rd Place ribbon in the Longarm, hand guided category. I also entered it in the Colorado State Fair and received a 1st Place ribbon.
