This class explores everything from how wide to make them to deciding what style border best suites your quilt by examining dozens of variations on border treatments. Learn how to make borders with perfect miters, how to preventing wavy borders, and how to work with border prints.

Crazy Quilt Pinch Box Full Day 5½ - 6 hours

Crazy Quilt stitches embellished with ribbons, buttons, and beads create a charming Pinch Box, ideal for holding the smallest of treasures. Pinch Boxes were used during the Victorian era for holding special treasures. Pinching on the ends opens to reveal the storage place. Learn tassels as well as how to make cording in this one day workshop.

Fabric Selection Made Easy Half Day 3 hours

One of the most challenging parts of making a quilt is choosing the fabrics. This class will change the way you think about fabric and shed new light on the process of selecting fabric for your projects. There is no sewing in this class, so no heavy equipment to bring. What you will bring with you are 3" squares of 20 different fabrics (cut 2 each, for a total of 40 squares). We will share the squares everyone brings, and use them to illustrate a Fabric Selection notebook that will serve as a valuable reference tool.

Good for any level of quiltmaking expertise. Covers ideas on how to make exciting fabric combinations. There is no sewing in this workshop. These skills will translate into all of your future quiltmaking adventures.

Finishing Techniques Half Day 3 hours

You've completed the quilt top. The layers are quilted. Now it is time to bind the quilt. Your quilt deserves the very best, and proper finishing makes all the difference. Ever wondered how to make bias tape in one long continuous strip? Want to know how to miter the corners of your binding?

This class is a combination of demonstrations and hands-on stitching of class samples that will teach elements of binding you didn't know you needed to know. Learn how to make a quilt that does not ripple on the edges, blocking, a revolutionary method for making continuous bias binding, how to miter the corners of your binding, and how to blend the beginning and end of your binding without lumps. Students make samples of finishing techniques for future reference.
